About Me

meMy mother taught me to sew. She made all my clothes when I was a kid and she instilled in me the love of sewing. I sewed garments and home dec from an early age but in the late 70's I discovered quilting and never looked back.

I wanted to go to art school but my mother said "be a nurse, you will always have a job" and so I did. A career in health care and 2 kids later, I am now happily retired with husband and dog in the village of Hampton, Connecticut.

Finally I have time for my 2 passions, music and quilting. On the music side, I play the mountain dulcimer. On the quilting side, I still love piecing and traditional quilting but art quilting, surface design and teaching are my new loves.

In addition to my dedicated sewing room, I have a basement wet studio where I do all my wet surface design techniques including painting and dyeing. Ava, my Handiquilter Avante, also lives in the basement.

For ongoing inspiration, I belong to the Narraganset Bay Quilters' Association, the Quiet Corner Art Quilt Group, the Northeast Connecticut Art Guild and the Windham Regional Arts Council. These groups contain some amazing quilters and artisits.

Come see me at one of my upcoming exhibits or call me about a class.
